The Great Alpine Adventure with the Glacier Express

Join us on this unique holiday as we head to the very heart of Europe on our Swiss & Austrian Adventure!

With train rides through the foot of the Alps, spectacular scenery and fabulous visits all combine to make this a wonderful way to see this beautiful part of the world.

Day One
Departing South Wales we head for the south east of England, crossing the channel and making our way through France to our overnight stop at the Mercure Reims Parc Des Expositions. Your overnight stay includes a set menu three course evening meal and breakfast the following morning.

Day Two -Switzerland
After a good night's rest, it's time to continue our journey from France and over the border to Switzerland. Passing from the North to the south of the country before arriving at the Hotel Kristall Saphir for our two night stay with evening meals and breakfast included.

Day Three - Zermatt and The Matterhorn
After breakfast it's back on the coach as we take you to Taesch to join the shuttle train to the beautiful resort of Zermatt. Set beneath the mighty Matterhorn, Zermatt is lined with traditional timber chalets and is home to the Matterhorn museum and a host of cafe's, restaurants, boutiques and chocolate shops!

Day Four - The Glacier Express
Driving through the valley we take you to Brig to board the incredible Glacier Express for our journey on the slowest express train in the world! Travelling through snow capped mountains, past glaciers, sparkling streams and waterfalls before arriving in Chur. From here we'll make our way by coach to the Vienna House by Wyndham hotel (Martinspark Dornbirn) in Austria, which will be our base for the next three nights (evening meals and breakfast included with your stay).

Day Five - At Leisure in Dornbirn
Today you will have a free day to enjoy at leisure in the Austrian city of Dornbirn. The central location of our hotel provides a great base for exploring the city centre; you might like to wander through the historic Marktstraße, lined with charming shops and cafes, or take a leisurely stroll along the picturesque Dornbirner Ache river. You could even take a local bus to visit the impressive Karren Mountain, where you can take a cable car up to the summit for stunning panoramic views of the surrounding area.

If you are feeling more adventurous, you may wish to take the train from Dornbirn to one of the charming lakeside towns of Bregenz or Lindau, which lie on the shore of nearby Lake Constance.

Day Six - Appenzell & St Gallen
This morning we head to the mountain town of Appenzell for a quick look around before taking a guided tour and tasting at the Appenzelller Cheese Dairy! From here it's on to the beautiful old town of St Gallen, including a visit to the baroque styled Abbey St Gall and Library.

Day Seven
Time to say goodbye to Austria, as we make our way back to Reims in France for our overnight stay at Mercure Reims Parc Des Expositions with a set menu three course evening meal included.

Day Eight
After breakfast we head back to Calais for a ferry crossing to the UK, arriving back home late in the evening.
